Changing lives in the communities we serve and ensuring everyone above and below the surface goes home safely is at the core of everything we do.
For us, it’s more than just waking up and going to work; at Zimplats our employees are also teachers in the community. Through the use of drama and plays our employees have created drama groups amongst themselves and regularly teach people in the community about business and safety in a dramatic, fun and captivating manner.
Throughout the years we have discovered that employee wellness plays a crucial role in our business. A housed employee is a happy employee and because of that we have ensured all our employees have homes within the vicinity of the mine. Through the Turf Housing initiative, we developed over 1800 homes and through the Community Share Ownership Trust, we also managed to build houses for teachers some schools.
As a company that has the community at heart, Zimplats has also commissioned some recreational facilities at Ngezi; a community hall and a club house in an attempt to make the location more attractive to skilled personnel.
