COVID-19 pandemic as demanded that we all come together as one humanity, one community to play our part in fighting the spread of COVID-19. As a business we recognise that we are not an island. We operate in a community and this has driven the business to donate various items to medical institutions to ensure they are also prepared to fight the spread of COVID19. Zimplats has donated items valued at USD172,000 to institutions in Harare Metropolitan and Mashonaland West Provinces. The items donated to date include:
While these measures could contribute to saving a life, Zimplats is encouraging all stakeholders to remember the key issues in fighting the spread:
- Wash you hands with soap regularly
- Practice good hand and respiratory hygiene
- Maintain social distance of not less than 1.5metres
Zimplats has also put a number of measures in place to safeguard the health and safety of its employees as it has maintained its operations having been granted the relevant authorisation. The company has managed to achieve the control of exposure of the employees by fully adopting social distancing principles in all work spaces including company transport.
